Touch Exercise - The Feeling Bubble

"In the Middle Ages, so-called witches and others who lived on the outskirts of the law, piety, or convention were burned at the stake. Mimicking the fire and brimstone of hell, it was the ultimate horror. Death would happen cell by cell, receptor by receptor; each of life's minute sensations would be torched" - Diane Ackerman (Natural History of the Senses)

Statement: While reading this quote, I could see the scene clearly in my head leading me to wanting to paint the event. I found it interesting how detailed Ackerman is while describing the burning of the body. I created the flames and smoke in this painting using my hands and fingers to reinforce the idea of touch.
