Tulle, Lavender, Pearl Beads, 6 feet long
Artist Statement
This piece represents my identity in relation to femininity. The materials I used helped lay the idea of femininity. I used tulle because of the association with female things, such as gowns. Gowns hold a strong symbol of femininity, and in relation to my identity signify feminine strength. I tied this tulle piece at the waist in order to emphasize the feminine form. The tulle in this piece emphasizes my role as a female. I used lavender because it is my favorite flower and symbolizes elegance, grace, and refinement. These are all things I associate with femininity and myself. I sewed pearls into the tulle because they symbolize loyalty, generosity, and balance. These are all traits I associate with my identity of being a strong feminine force.
