Natural Dyes and Textiles

Fringe World - Natural Dyed Fabric, Leather, Ink, White Thread

For this collection, I drew inspiration from the textures and symbols used in the Art Nouveau period. I wanted to bring these pieces from the Art Nouveau period to current times by using textiles as the medium. These pieces incorporate fringe, highlighting the primitive nature of the pieces. This contrasts the symbols from the Art Noveau period within the pieces. Art Nouveau was a time of embellishment and craftsmanship, but the primitiveness of my pieces bring together two different worlds. Through these pieces, I wanted to explore Art Nouveau through abstract landscapes.
